Rambling Thoughts
Well I was driving down the road the other day not really thinking about anything and a thought popped into my head. Why is it that when people give directions they often say “two tenths of a mile” or something to the equivalent. I know when I was learning fractions in grammar school we were told that the fraction should always be brought done to its lowest number. For example shouldn’t 2/10 be 1/5? So shouldn't you say go 1/5 of a mile. Well this really bothered me for some reason until I found the answer.The reason you use tenths to describe mileage is due to the odometer in your car. Your odometer calculates mileage down to the tenth of a mile, so when relaying directions you state it in that format so the person driving can watch their odometer. Just a tidbit in case you ever wanted to know!!

Jumping off a Cliff
Ok, well I did it even though I said I wouldn’t. I let JD talk me into it and decided to start a blog!! So now I find myself asking “What do I write about?”. Do I just post my meaningless rambling thoughts that I so very often have? Do I feel the need to inflict everyone (if anyone) who will read this blog with my sometimes mindless banter? You betcha ya!!! But I feel that I should have an even blend of things in order to give this blog a nice ambiance so people will hang around!!
So as an introduction, I have decided to post the ever so popular “25 Random Things about Me” list. How very original you say. But in all actuality, I believe that you realize a few things about yourself once you start compiling this list.
So on that note, here we go!!
1. The most important thing to me in my life is my son, but that is pretty evident.
2. My husband is my partner, best friend, lover, and the only person that can manage to reign me in from time to time. (just don’t let him know that)
3. Often times I find myself turning into my mother (although I WILL NEVER admit it out loud) and it doesn’t bother me as much as I once thought it would. I am now old enough to appreciate everything she has done in order to guide me into adulthood and prepare me for the reality of life .
4. I love to photograph people, children especially. I love being able to catch one of those smiles or expressions that usually only you see.
5. Trees – I love trees. Besides children, they are my second favorite subject to photograph. I love them in the spring when the leaves are that bright new green or in the early fall when they just begin to change to a burnt orange.
6. I have a Book Obsession!!! BigM likes to refer to me as a book whore because 98% of the time I have one in my purse, my car, and on my nightstand. I will read ALMOST anything. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to buy books, read books, collect books, look at books, ect…. I love cracking open a new book that has crisp pages and a perfect spine!!! Every single book I own, I have read at least twice. There are some favorites that I have read in the double digit numbers of times.
7. I like to bargain hunt and shop for deals. I take pride in finding sales and discounts with just a little bit of effort. It makes me feel good that we spend little on necessities, so that we can splurge on fun things or save for the future.
8. I love warm, inviting colors such as oranges, reds and browns. Anyone who has been to my house knows this! I am not the type of person that could live with crisp white walls. I have to have color, lots and lots of color!!
9. I am VERY out spoken. Do not ask my opinion if you are unprepared to hear it. I will not beat around the bush, sugar coat, or BS you. I will give you my opinion whether or not that is what you want to hear.
10. I am very passionate about several topics and will always have a certain view about them. I try not to get on my soap box unless I am provoked. LOL Then I must warn you, you are in for one heck of a discussion!!
11. I LOVE to drive a manual transmission car!! I miss driving one so bad!!! But bigM convinced me that once we had littleM, I needed to get an automatic. One day I will have another 6 speed convertible that I can race around town in!!!
12. I am not always the most patient person. I cannot stand to wait when I want something done! Please do not tell me “in a minute”, if you don’t want to do it just tell me so that I can already have it done.
13. I am a HUGE Stephenie Meyer fan!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE her Twilight series. She created a brilliant enjoyable world to delve into. I cannot wait until she comes out with something new.
14. With regards to that, I like Vampires. Yes, I know its crazy but I like to read Vampire stories. They have this dark, seductive, mysterious quality that draws me in!! I never thought I would admit that publicly! LOL
15. I am VERY analytical by nature. I will research the heck out of something before I make a purchase or decision. I have to know every facet before I jump in.
16. I love Gadgets and Electronics and cool software. Yes I am a Geek and will admit it!!
17. Marshmallows are disgusting unless melted in a recipe or burnt beyond recognition over an open flame.
18. I HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE and generally DESPISE eggs.
19. I love earthy, woodsy, deep dark scents. Like sandalwood and amber. I am not a fruity, floral scent type of woman.
20. I like to clean my house. It is a HUGE stress reliever to me and part therapy too. I love smelling the clean scents of freshly mopped floors and not seeing any dust on the furniture.
21. I love to cook!! I love to make things with fresh ingredients and fresh herbs. I am constantly looking for new recipes. I also like making candies and desserts and working with chocolate.
22. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to make lists!! I make millions of lists/spreadsheets. To-Do lists, To-Buy lists, and anything lists. It makes me feel organized when everything is listed and I can look at it and know what needs to be done.
23. There is nothing better than a good glass of Pinot Grigio or a Black Grey Goose Martini after a long hard day at the office.
24. I don’t have patience for your BS. If you are the type of person that will call me up just to keep me on the phone for 45 minutes telling me all the things that you are “going to” do but never actually do, then don’t bother calling.
25. People who act like they know everything, have done and seen everything, and has been everywhere generally grate my nerves. Again I don’t have time for your BS or your holier than thou attitude.
26. Yes, I know this is supposed to be a 25 item list but I couldn’t help to add this one because it is so very evident. I tend to write ALOT!! When I have something to say even if its about nothing at all, I can go on for several paragraphs. So I apologize in advance if some of my posts get too long!! :o)
P.S. You have probably figured out by now that I couldn’t come up with a title for this blog. Well I decided to go against the grain, stand against the masses, pee into the wind and not come up with one!!!! LOL
